Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to app
Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to app
I'm experiencing Auria freezing after performing a mixdown or leaving Auria and returning without force quitting. Not all the time, but on several occasions Auria's transport refused to respond. Quitting and relaunching resolves this. In the 12 track session I've been working in, the CPU load is around 80% on iPad3. iOS is 5.1.1. Seems to do this regardless of whether Auria is the only running app or not.
Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
That type of freezing most likely isn't related to CPU overload (you'd get a message if that were the case). Whenever you do any kind of operation that takes time (like a mixdown), Auria disables all the other controls and the mixer, so you can't use do anything until that operation is finished. It's possible that there's a case where it doesn't re-enable all the controls after it's done. If you can get this to happen again, try to remember the exact sequence of things you did. If I can duplicate it here, I can fix it. You mentioned going away for a while. Maybe this happens if the iPad goes to sleep after doing a mixdown? Let me know what you discover.

ipad sleep not involved.
Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
it's doing it right now. I created a new session, imported one mono audio file, and the transport is stuck. All other functions seem normal. Leaving Auria and returning does not resolve. Force quit does.
Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
I'm trying this and it works fine for me. Here's what I'm doing. Please make sure there's nothing different about the way you're doing this:
1. Create a new project - 0 tracks
2. Press the menu button
3. Select Import Audio
4. Choose a mono WAV file, same sample rate as the project (no conversion necessary)
5. After it's done importing, press play on the transport. It works here.

Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
no, the import works fine-I'm just saying the transport did freeze right after doing the import. So the freezing is not caused by track count or CPU usage. Like I said, everything else seems totally OK-but the transport will not roll. Quitting and restarting will return transport function. Wish I could tell you exactly what makes this happen, but it seems to be related to backgrounding the app-not sure what else. I'll follow up with more info as I have it. I hate to load you guys up with too much stuff-I know you must be pulling your hair out working this forum.
Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
It's no problem at all, really
I'd really like to get to the bottom of this one, if you don't mind helping.
What I meant was that after going through the list I just wrote, the transport works fine. Is there something you do that's different than my list? If so, let me know, so I can experience this bug myself.
Thanks,
Rim

Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
no, I'm making the new session exactly as you did.
Re: Auria freeze after mixdown or leaving and returning to a
There's got to be something that's even a little different, as Auria should run the same on my iPad as yours. Some things to check:
Is the wav file the same sample rate as your project?
Does this happen with all wav files, or just that one (maybe there's something wrong with that file)?
It's a wav file, right, not an AIFF or MP3?
Are you in portrait mode or landscape? I tried my test in landscape.

Rim, I've gotten busy and haven't had time to play with Auria-will try to replicate this issue his weekend.
