Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
I was working on a song and auria was using around 20% cpu. After closing the app and coming back, it started up with 150% cpu use. I tried freezing every track, but there was no reduction. I tried force closing the app and starting it again, but it didn't work.
Then I turned my iPad off and on again, and at that point I could load my song and Auria was using 10-20% cpu. However, when I force closed the app and loaded it back up again, it went back to using 150%. All, this without doing anything, and every track frozen.
I'm using an iPad 2018 with iOS 12.0.1, but now I cannot use Auria on it

Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
Does this project have a lot of AUv3 plugins loaded? You might be running into the AUv3 limit of 360MB (I think it's 360 now?). I've run into this problem when I have a lot of plugs loaded. If you can, instead of freezing, bounce tracks. Or, save the presets and unload the AUs temporarily.
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
Nope. No plugins at all, but using the channel strip EQ and compressor on most tracks.

Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
Does the problem go away when you temporarily disable EQ/comp?
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
I solved it. There was one auv3 plugin I had forgot to disable. Disabling that made everything fine. The plugin had crashed without Auria giving any notice about it. Is that normal, because it makes it a bit of a hassle to notice the error..
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
What AU plugin was it that caused this issue?
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
It was Blue Mangoo Equalizer
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
Thanks I'll get a copy and check it out on my end.
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
The crash is likely the plugins fault. It seems to be a bit unstable in beatmaker 3 as well. However, in bm3 you get a notice when it crashes, so if it iss possible to do the same thing in Auria it would be great!
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
I have a copy of the BlueMagoo parametric EQ now. Is there anything specific you can do that causes the plugin to 'crash'? Everything appears to be working well on my end and there is no spike in CPU usage that I can see from basic use.
Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
No, sorry, I don't know any specific way to make it crash (otherwise I would have messaged the developer my self). Maybe try it on several tracks in a project. I always use more instances of it when it crashes. you will know when it crashes, because not only will the cpu spike, but all sound will be gone as well.

I'm representing Blue Mangoo. We also tested the Blue Mangoo Parametric Eq with Auria and didn't observe any unusual CPU usage or crashing. One thought that comes to mind is that we did have several reports like this last month and we updated the app to correct the problem. Perhaps your iPad is still using one of the older versions that has errors. Please check for an update on the App Store. If you find a list of steps that consistently causes this problem to occur, please notify us immediately and we will address the issue.

Re: Auria suddenly using 150% cpu
I have updateed to the latest version (I always do as soon as they are live on the app store). It has crashed several times for me after that, both in Auria and BM3. If I can find a way to reliably make it crash, I will inform you.
