Moving on

Post by ToadMeister » Wed Mar 29, 2023 3:14 pm

I have come to the conclusion that Auria is done. No updates, no news and still needs a lot of help. I am going toward a new powerful computer and a working DAW. No anger or bitterness here … Just done. Too much money and too much time lost. It was interesting. Best wishes to all.

I want to emphasize that switching to a new DAW can be a complicated process that takes time and effort. You may need to learn the new interface and features in order to fully utilize all the features of the new program. However, you may end up with more options for creating music and improving your performance.

I'm staying for my enjoyment of a music hobby. Some piano, some strings, some synth pads/leads, some percussion - mix and master it with Fabfilter plugins for 1/3 the price of desktop.

It still works well enough to make music start to finish.
Good luck!

I’d love to see some stuff happen with Auria, of course, but since I continue using it frequently after 5 years - I’ve just spent most of the past 24 hours using it in fact - I just want to say thanks for making it!

It's not done. It still works quite well.

It needs some help and bugs fixed, but still very much usable.

Auria is a working DAW. Sounds like you need more RAM in the computing device and more features in the DAW to serve your musical creation need better. Good luck!

There will be on the "powerful computer" side too!

I wonder though why post this in a public forum? Too much negativity in these internet chat/forums/social media things. I don't think it's helpful to publicly admonish developers. Rim has made a great app that runs on my old iPad - amazing.

Big thanks to Rim and WaveMachine Labs for making Auria Pro. I finish processing audio in video with the video IAP and Fabfilter IAPs with great results.

I still use Auria everyday on my master buss connected to my Prism Sound Lyra which captures my final master.

Still use it every day and it still does what I need it to. Never got on with laptops. Never got on with any other iOS daw before or since. If it wasn’t for this app, I’d never have made anything.

I have mixed 166 songs in Auria over the last 10 years, and I still use the app every day. It's been a workhorse, and I'm so grateful that Rim made this app that was so productive and enjoyable to me.

I do wish that the iOS market was a little more forgiving for indie devs, especially those like Rim who have made something as ambitious as a DAW. If subscription had been a more acceptable option for the market, things could have been very different, and my two favourite iOS apps, Auria and Nanostudio 2, might have seen better revenues and more active development.

Logic Pro is obviously going to change everything, and it's going to be very difficult for Auria to compete, however there is still an opportunity there for WML: they could port Drumagog and Lyra to AUv3 and I'm sure these would sell really well - especially Drumagog since there is no other drum replacement app available on iOS.

This post is beginning to sound like a eulogy for Auria…

No...I think everyone except the OP said they still use it and plan to, and didn't have a farewell eulogy speech.
Just my opinion.

Rim updated this last June, as soon as you hit the keyboard button, it crashed, he fixed it two weeks later, but still to this day you cannot select the Drum pads and get any sound at all! He just doesn’t really give a rats ass about this program and I agree that Apple is not giving him any money for any updates? If he would’ve fixed problems, and called made it another revision out of gladly paid $100!

I think that's not a fair statement.
